UCSB faculty and staff are concerned about the well-being and health of students. Many college students find it difficult to attend college due to fatigue, stress, and other social pressures. Students can access many services and programs at campus to help them maintain their mental, physical, and social health. student health ucsb are also supported in many ways when they face such difficulties, including education, counselling, intervention, and education.

Services for Student Health Ucsb

Parents often ask their children about who will care for them when they are sick after their child leaves for college.

Student Health Ucsb, a large medical facility that complies with the Accreditation Associate for Ambulatory Healthcare Care standards, has over 140 staff members, including primary care physicians, psychiatrists and nurse practitioners, as well as dietitians, pharmacists and lab technicians. Students can either make an appointment or be seen in the Urgent Care. Students can email or stop by the Advice Nurse to speak with one. The electronic medical record allows for secure communication via email, online prescription refills and appointment scheduling. Further information is available on the student health website. WHERE TO GO IF STUDENTS GET SICK

The Student Health Ucsb can be found at the west end campus, halfway between Isla Vista and the Residence Halls. Students can use services Monday through Friday between 8 a.m.-4 :30 p.m., Wednesday 9 a.m.-4 :30 pm, Thursday 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Friday 5 p.m.-7:45 p.m. (by appointment). If you need immediate care or are unable to attend after-hours, the Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital and local Urgent Care Centers can be accessed. Students who are unable or unwilling to travel to Student Health can call the Yellow Cab Company (9-911 campus telephones) and the Campus Ambulance (9-911 campus telephones).

SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS

We recommend students make appointments for their visits as soon as possible to maximize their time. We offer “Urgent Care” for urgent medical problems that require immediate attention. Students may have to wait in order to see a doctor. This clinic does not operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, it is based on the severity of the medical issue.

If you have an appointment, arrive 10-15 minutes early to complete paperwork. The Check-in Medical Assistant will check vital signs like blood pressure and temperature. The student will be examined by a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant.
